Get your kids involved in your household recycling – they are the future of our planet.

Talk to your school about getting a recycling program started from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Reuse plastic shopping bags or return them to the grocery store for recycling.

Use children’s drawings as wrapping paper.

Reuse margarine tubs to freeze foods or pack lunches. This can reduce the need for foil, plastic wrap or paper bags.

Consider purchasing concentrated products to reduce packaging such as fruit juices, laundry detergent, fabric softener and window cleaner

Compost your grass clippings and leaves to use in the flower beds.

Reuse baby food containers. They are great for finger paints and packing snacks in.

Did you know?

There is no limit to the amount of times aluminum cans can be recycled.

In 2006, Americans drank about 167 bottles of water each, but only recycled an average of 23 percent. That leaves 38 billion water bottles in landfills.

Plastic bottles take 700 years before they begin to decompose in a landfill.
